The MMR vaccine is given as an injection, usually in two doses at least four weeks apart. Completing the full course provides long-term protection.

Side effects: Mild side effects may include fever, mild rash, or swelling at the injection site. Temporary joint aches can occasionally occur, particularly in adults.

Additional precautions: Inform the clinician if you are pregnant, immunocompromised, or have had a severe allergic reaction to a previous vaccine dose.

Before your appointment: Let us know about any recent vaccinations or illnesses. Bring your vaccination history if available.

Risks prevented by MMR: Measles, mumps, and rubella can lead to serious complications including pneumonia, meningitis, hearing loss, fertility issues, and pregnancy complications.
